The school has a Student's Council each year that represents the entire student body. The council consists of an approximate 15 students who are elected through formal election in which the entire student body participates. The Council is responsible for all co-curricular activities and events of the school. A faculty overseer also acts as a coordinator with the Student's Council.

The IVS was granted an independent charter by the Government of Sindh in June 1994, thereby empowering
it to award its own degrees. It was the fourth private institution of higher learning in Pakistan to be given degree awarding status.
Admission to the School is strictly based on merit as determined by an aptitude test, an interview process and a weightage criteria.
