Printmaking Workshop/Box Print Portfolio - Spring 2010
Fund Raising Project
Department of Fine Art
Printmaking
Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture
Karachi

[Opening Reception: October 27, 2010] – [Date End: November 20, 2010]

The Department of Printmaking, Fine Arts, at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture hosted a Box - Print Portfolio Fund Raising Project from April 8 - 15, 2010 which will be followed by a Printmaking Exhibition of the same work at the IVS Gallery, Karachi, Pakistan.

Michael Kempson, one of the leading printmakers of Australia, Michael Kempson, visited Pakistan for his survey Exhibition, curated by Independent curators Roohi Ahmed and Abdullah M. I. Syed, at the V.M. Art Gallery (April 6 – April 15). While he was here, the Printmaking Studio, Department of Fine Art, at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture hosted the Box - Print Portfolio Workshop.

The project was designed to provide a platform for professional interaction between artists, faculty members and students from IVS and other educational institutions of Karachi. This will be a fundraiser for the development of the Fine Art Department to buy a large-scale intaglio press for the development of the printmaking facilities too at IVS, which are generously shared with other art institutions. We also hope to establish an ongoing international exchange program, strengthen bonds and working relationship with other National and International Art Institutions and artists.

Nafisa Rizvi will write the text for the project catalogue which will publish under the IVS publications.

The IVS was granted an independent charter by the Government of Sindh in June 1994, thereby empowering
it to award its own degrees. It was the fourth private institution of higher learning in Pakistan to be given degree awarding status.
Admission to the School is strictly based on merit as determined by an aptitude test, an interview process and a weightage criteria.
